Chemical Peels in Ashford, Surrey

Chemical Peels in Ashford, Surrey – Targeted Skin Renewal at Autumn Harmony

Chemical peels are one of the most effective professional treatments available for improving a wide range of skin concerns — from pigmentation and uneven skin tone to acne, fine lines, and dullness. At Autumn Harmony, peels are always delivered as part of a considered, personalised treatment plan, ensuring your skin is properly assessed and prepared before any active treatment begins.

Based at Heather's Beauty Box Salon in Ashford, Surrey, I offer professional chemical peel treatments for clients across Ashford, Feltham, Sunbury, Staines, Shepperton, and surrounding areas.

What Is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a professional skin treatment in which a carefully selected acid solution is applied to the skin to encourage controlled exfoliation of the outer layers. This stimulates the skin's natural renewal process, revealing fresher, brighter, and more even-toned skin beneath.

Unlike at-home exfoliants, professional peels use clinically formulated concentrations that deliver measurable results — safely and precisely, in the hands of a trained Skin Specialist.

The Peel Used at Autumn Harmony: epiderma5 Glycolic Acid Peel (40%)

At Autumn Harmony, I use the epiderma5 Glycolic Acid Peel at 40% concentration — a professional-strength AHA peel formulated for use by qualified Skin Specialists. This is not available for home use or over the counter; it is a clinical-grade treatment that delivers results simply not achievable with retail exfoliants.

What Is Glycolic Acid?

Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugar cane. It has the smallest molecular size of all AHAs, which allows it to penetrate the skin more effectively than other acids — making it one of the most researched and clinically proven exfoliating ingredients available.

Why 40% in a Professional Setting?

At-home glycolic acid products typically contain between 5–10% concentration — enough to provide mild surface exfoliation. At 40% professional strength, the treatment works at a significantly deeper level:

  • Accelerates cell turnover – breaking down the bonds between dead skin cells more effectively, revealing fresher skin beneath
  • Stimulates collagen production – encouraging the skin to produce new collagen fibres, improving firmness and reducing the appearance of fine lines
  • Targets pigmentation at a deeper level – disrupting melanin clusters that cause uneven skin tone, sun damage, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Clears congestion and acne – dissolving the build-up of dead skin cells inside pores, reducing blackheads, breakouts, and post-acne marks
  • Improves product absorption – by removing the barrier of dead skin, active skincare ingredients penetrate more effectively after treatment

At this concentration, the peel must be carefully monitored and timed by a trained professional — which is why patch testing and a prior skin assessment are essential steps before treatment.

What the epiderma5 Glycolic Peel Can Help With

  • Pigmentation & uneven skin tone – including sun damage, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and melasma
  • Acne & congestion – reducing breakouts, clearing pores, and improving skin clarity
  • Fine lines & early signs of ageing – stimulating collagen and accelerating cell turnover
  • Dull or lacklustre skin – restoring radiance and a healthy glow
  • Uneven texture – smoothing rough or bumpy skin surface
  • Post-acne scarring – gradually reducing the appearance of shallow scarring and marks

Why a Bespoke Facial Comes First

At Autumn Harmony, I always recommend a Bespoke Facial before proceeding with a chemical peel programme. This is not simply a formality — it is an essential step in delivering safe, effective results.

The initial facial allows me to:

  • Accurately assess your skin condition, barrier health, and sensitivity levels
  • Identify any contraindications or areas of concern
  • Understand how your skin responds to professional products and treatment
  • Confirm suitability for the glycolic peel and select the appropriate application approach
  • Begin preparing the skin for active treatment

This considered approach ensures that when your peel treatment begins, your skin is ready — and your results are maximised safely.

Patch Testing Requirement

A patch test is required before your first chemical peel treatment, carried out at least 24–48 hours before your appointment, to confirm your skin's suitability for the glycolic acid solution. Please book a patch test if you are a new client or have not had this treatment with me previously.

How the Treatment Is Performed

  1. Consultation & Skin Assessment – I review your skin history, concerns, and goals. Suitability for treatment is confirmed.
  2. Cleanse & Preparation – The skin is thoroughly cleansed and degreased to ensure even peel penetration.
  3. Peel Application – The epiderma5 glycolic solution is carefully applied and monitored throughout the treatment.
  4. Neutralisation & Removal – The peel is neutralised and removed at the appropriate time for your skin.
  5. Soothing & Protection – Calming, hydrating products are applied to support the skin barrier, followed by SPF.

Treatment time is typically 45–60 minutes, including consultation and aftercare application.

What to Expect After Your Peel

The epiderma5 Glycolic Acid Peel is considered a no-downtime peel — meaning you can return to your normal daily activities immediately after treatment. Unlike deeper peels, visible peeling or flaking is not a typical or expected outcome.

You may experience:

  • Mild redness or warmth immediately after treatment — this usually subsides within a few hours
  • A slight tightness or sensitivity to the skin — normal and temporary
  • In some cases, very mild flaking may appear over the following day or two — this is minimal and not the same as the visible peeling associated with deeper treatments

The skin renewal process is happening at a cellular level — results build gradually and become more visible in the days following treatment as the skin renews itself.

FAQs About Chemical Peels

Do I need a patch test before a chemical peel?

Yes — a patch test is required at least 24–48 hours before your first treatment to confirm your skin's suitability for the glycolic acid solution.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your skin concern and goals. Some clients see a noticeable improvement after a single session; for pigmentation, acne, or more significant concerns, a course of 3–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is typically recommended.

Is there a saving for booking a course?

Yes — a Course of 3 saves you £50 compared to booking three individual sessions (£255 clinic / £300 mobile). The course must be used within 4 months of purchase, with a minimum of 4 weeks between each session.

Will I visibly peel after treatment?

The epiderma5 Glycolic Acid Peel is a no-downtime peel — visible peeling or flaking is not a typical outcome. You may experience mild redness or tightness immediately after, which settles within a few hours. Very mild flaking over the following day or two is possible but minimal.

Can I wear makeup after a chemical peel?

It is best to avoid heavy makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment to allow the skin to settle. A tinted SPF is a good alternative if you need some coverage on the day — mineral SPF is recommended as your first product after treatment.

What should I avoid before a chemical peel?

Stop using retinol and retinoids at least 5–7 days before treatment, and AHAs, BHAs, and exfoliating products at least 3–5 days before. Always mention your full skincare routine at consultation.

Can I combine a chemical peel with other treatments?

Yes — chemical peels pair well with Dermaplaning and Bespoke Facials as part of a wider skin programme. Timing between treatments will be discussed during your consultation.

Is a chemical peel suitable for sensitive skin?

Sensitivity is assessed during your consultation and patch test. The glycolic peel can be suitable for many skin types, but the approach is always tailored to your skin's condition and tolerance on the day.
