Every Preteen & Teen Facial is tailored to the individual's skin on the day, using only professional-grade products appropriate for their age and skin condition.

What the Preteen & Teen Facial Includes
The treatment is adapted to each client's skin and age. The steps below reflect the full protocol — please see the age-specific notes where they apply.
Skin Consultation & Analysis
Every treatment begins with a thorough consultation — carried out with both the young client and their parent or guardian present. This covers skin concerns, sensitivities, current skincare habits, and any relevant health information. The young client is encouraged to ask questions and engage fully with the process.
Deep Cleanse
A gentle but thorough double cleanse using age-appropriate professional products to remove surface impurities, excess oil, and product build-up — preparing the skin for the steps that follow.
Exfoliation (16 & 17 Year Olds Only)
A mild, professional exfoliant is applied to help clear dead skin cells and decongest pores. Exfoliation is not performed for clients under 16, as younger skin is typically more reactive and does not require this step.
Extractions (Where Appropriate)
Where the skin is ready and suitable, gentle manual Extractions may be performed to clear blocked pores and blackheads. This is always carried out with care and only where appropriate — never forced.
Targeted Treatment
A targeted treatment step is selected based on the individual's skin needs — whether that's calming congested areas, supporting the skin barrier, or addressing uneven texture.
Mask (Where Appropriate)
Where appropriate for the individual's skin on the day, a soothing or clarifying mask may be applied. Not all skin types or conditions will benefit from a mask at every appointment — this step is included only where it will add value to the treatment.
Finish
A finishing product is applied to support the skin barrier and protect results. Homecare recommendations are provided at the end of the treatment to support the skin between appointments.
Treatment time is approximately 60 minutes.

Product selection is guided by the client's age and skin condition:
Under 16s — epiderma5 Only
For clients under 16, only epiderma5 professional skincare is used throughout the treatment. epiderma5 is a UK-based professional skincare range formulated for effective, results-driven skin support — selected here for its suitability for younger, more sensitive skin. No GENOSYS products or active clinical treatments are used for this age group. Exfoliation is also not included for under 16s.
16 & 17 Year Olds — epiderma5 and GENOSYS
For clients aged 16 and 17, both epiderma5 and GENOSYS professional skincare may be used as appropriate to the individual's skin condition and treatment goals. Exfoliation may also be included where suitable. Product selection is always guided by a thorough skin assessment on the day.
Consent & Safeguarding Policy
The safety, comfort, and wellbeing of every young client is the absolute priority at Autumn Harmony. The following policy applies to all Preteen & Teen Facial appointments:
Under 16s — Parental or Guardian Consent Required
Written parental or guardian consent is required for all clients under 16 before any treatment can proceed. Consent forms are provided in advance of the appointment and must be completed and returned prior to the treatment date.
Parental or Guardian Presence (Under 16s)
A parent or guardian must be present throughout the entire treatment for all clients under 16. This is a non-negotiable requirement and cannot be waived under any circumstances.
Client Understanding & Assent (Under 16s)
It is also required that the young client themselves is able to demonstrate that they understand what the treatment involves and freely gives their own assent to proceed. Treatment will not go ahead if the young client appears uncertain, uncomfortable, or unwilling — regardless of parental consent.
16 & 17 Year Olds — Self-Consent
Clients aged 16 and 17 may consent to treatment themselves. Parental or guardian consent is not required for this age group. The young person's own understanding of and agreement to the treatment remains the priority, and treatment will not proceed if the client appears uncertain or unwilling.
Right to Pause or Stop
Any client — of any age — has the right to pause or stop a treatment at any point. This is always respected without question.
Skin Education
A key part of the Preteen & Teen Facial is education. I take time during and after the treatment to explain what is happening with the skin, why certain products are being used, and how to build a simple, effective skincare routine at home. The goal is to empower young clients with the knowledge and confidence to care for their skin well — not to create dependency on professional treatments.

What age is this facial suitable for?
The Preteen & Teen Facial is suitable for clients from approximately age 10 upwards. Each case is assessed individually — if you are unsure whether your child is ready for a professional facial, please get in touch before booking.
Does a parent need to stay for the whole treatment?
For clients under 16, yes — a parent or guardian must be present throughout the entire treatment. For clients aged 16 and 17, parental presence is not required and the young person may attend and consent independently.
Is parental consent required?
Parental or guardian consent is required for clients under 16. Clients aged 16 and 17 may consent to treatment themselves and do not require parental consent.
What products are used on younger skin?

Will my child need a patch test?
A patch test is not routinely required for the Preteen & Teen Facial. However, if your child has known sensitivities, allergies, or skin conditions, please mention these when booking so the appropriate products can be selected.
Can the facial help with teenage acne?
The Preteen & Teen Facial can help support the appearance of blemish-prone and congested skin by helping to clear blocked pores and improve skin clarity. It is not a medical treatment for acne. If your child has severe or cystic acne, please consult a GP or dermatologist alongside any professional skincare treatment.
How often should a teen have a facial?
For general skin maintenance, every 4–6 weeks aligns with the skin's natural renewal cycle. For more significant congestion, an initial course of treatments may be recommended — this will be discussed at the consultation.
Is this treatment available as a mobile appointment?
Yes — the Preteen & Teen Facial is available as a Mobile Treatment at your home. All consent and safeguarding requirements apply equally to mobile appointments.
How do I book?
All appointments can be booked online. If booking for a client under 16, please note this in your booking so that the appropriate consent documentation can be sent to you in advance.
